Firefighter's Memorial
The Firefighter's Memorial honors three Coos Bay firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty and is dedicated to the sacrifices of all firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty. CBFD Captain Randy Carpenter and firefighters Chuck Hanners and Jeff Common died when a roof collapsed while they were fighting a multiple-alarm fire on November 25, 2002. The memorial is located in downtown Coos Bay in front of City Hall, on Central Avenue between 4th and 5th streets.
