Coos Bay Fire & Rescue is always accepting applications for volunteer firefighters.
Volunteer firefighters will complete a Firefighter Academy that will be scheduled during weekly drills and occasional weekend days. Once the initial training is completed volunteers are asked to attend fire department training drills on Wednesday nights.
Volunteer Firefighter Requirements:
- 18 years old by date of acceptance.
- No criminal record.
- Be in good physical condition.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Appearance will meet department standards.

What are my commitments if I become a Volunteer Firefighter?
- Maintain state-required training hours.
- Attend weekly two-hour volunteer trainings.
- Attend department community functions.
- Respond to large emergency incidents.
- Be responsible for the safe keeping of all assigned department property.
- Be respectful at all times, as you are a representative of the fire department.
- Obey all lawful orders of department personnel.
- Demonstrate willingness to learn.
